I didn't expect to learn that lesson from a snake

Walking home from my yoga class, I couldn’t help but notice the signs of spring everywhere.
Trees bursting into bloom, fresh green shoots pushing through the soil, even the sun decided to show up.
Yep, spring is here.
As I walked, I reflected on the theme of our yoga session.
My teacher spoke about the connection between spring and the Chinese Year of the Snake,
which had only recently begun, and why the snake should inspire us.
The snake, she explained, symbolizes renewal because it sheds its old skin to make way for new growth.
And just like the snake, we, too, can shed what no longer serves us: -
habits, thoughts, or patterns we're ready to release.
Spring also carries this energy of expansion, of becoming.
During our class, every posture was about opening up, spreading wider -
almost as if we were stretching beyond our skin.
Do you feel it too - an urge to let go of something that's been holding you back?
To step into a version of yourself that feels more aligned with who you are and want to be?
This season was made for change.
Now is the perfect time to take action.
Pause for a moment and ask yourself:
What’s one habit or thought you’re ready to let go of?
- Hitting snooze in the morning instead of starting your day with intention?
- Reacting impatiently when your child resists bedtime?
- Getting stuck in endless overthinking about things beyond your control?
- Holding onto the belief that you’re somehow not as worthy as others?
Whatever it is, you can start shifting it today with three simple steps:
REFLECT– What role does this habit or thought play in your life? What need has it been fulfilling? Is there a lesson behind it?
CHOOSE – What would you like to replace it with? A more empowering belief? A new, intentional habit?
Take a small STEP – What’s one action you can take today to start making that shift?
Spring reminds us that change is natural. Growth is always possible.
And just like the snake, you, too, can shed what's no longer serving you and step into something new.
So, what’s one thing you’re ready to let go of - and what will you grow in its place?
